Yesterday was an eventful day. I worked in the office and got to make my first reservation. I'm usually comfortable with computers but the reservation system they use is pretty complicated and their training is a little to fast paced that it's hard to remember all the steps. I was in the office with Barbara, another Workamper. She was waiting on another customer when the phone rang and I had to answer it. I have a lot of difficulty hearing on the phone when it's quiet much less with a lot of background noise. In the background of the phone call was a barking dog. The guy wanted to make a reservation for Saturday for 4 days. Between not being able to hear him well and not really sure what to do in the computer program, I had a real experience. The guy was from Phoenix to top it all off. We'll see if I did it right when he gets here Saturday. I was surprised we had any empty spots that close to 4th of July on that short of a notice.
Jamie and Eric, the managers here used to work for a local rafting company and yesterday they arranged for a rafting trip on the Animas River for any employee that wanted go. I was afraid that I'd have a problem with my knees if I had to squat or make a violent move so I didn't go but Judy did and she had a great time. They went about 5 miles and it took about 1 1/2 hours. The river is really running strong because of all the SNOW melt on the high mountain peaks, and it's about 40°, so there was a lot of cold splashing. But she had such a good time she's ready to go again. She said riding in the raft wasn't that bad so maybe I could try it.
We had another little experience yesterday. I was sitting in the trailer waiting to go to work and since it was thundering like it was going to rain, Dharma was inside on the couch. There were some electricians working at the park who had driven their trucks thru and empty spot beside us up behind our RV and parked. Then a camper came in who had that empty spot and as they were parking him, someone came out, jumped in one of the trucks parked there, and started to move it out before it was blocked in. I heard a big thunk and Dharma jumped off the couch. I went outside and saw where the truck had hit and damaged the ladder on the back of our RV. He didn't even stop, just drove away. I took after him and he drove around and parked in front of the office. Who should get out of the truck but our boss, the park manager. I asked him if he knew he hit my RV and he said he heard something but there were no mirrors on the truck!! I took him over and showed him the damage. He said they will fix it. I sure hope so since this is a rather awkward situation.

Hi Judy & Bob,
Kelly just gave me your blog address. Congratulations on your new "lives". I know I sure love the "active" retirement concept. I am glad you had fun with Kevin, Romana, and the kids. Isn't that a wonderful opportunity for them? They were here last weekend and will return at the end of July.
I am sure they mentioned that I have a new (for me) toy. I purchased a 2004 Roadtrek. It seems to be just the right size for Harley and me. I would like to come up and visit with you after my class finishes and my doctor's appointment has been met. It would be after the 12th of July and I would come back before the 20th. I will call to see about reservations.
I am sending my best wishes up there to you. I hope things work out super for you.
Gary
