We weren't suppose to start working here until the 18th, but we told them we were ready to go so yesterday we went into the office and Andrew and Erin started showing us how to use the campground reservation system. They make it look so easy but even for me, it was a little intimidating. There's a lot of other stuff that goes on in there as well. You also have to ring up store sales., answer phones, and customer questions. We took a golf cart and rode all around the park to get familiar with everything. We worked for about 3 hours, went home, fed Dharma, and went back and practiced on the computer for an hour. We'll go back today for 3-4 hours more practice. I'm sure we'll learn to do it with a little practice. It looks like we'll be cleaning 3 days and working in the office 2 days. Judy would rather just clean and let me work in the office. The campground started filling up last night for the weekend and there are only about a 20 spots out of 114 spaces and 19 cabins so it looks like it'll be busy.
Since our T-Mobile phone service here is so spotty (none at out trailer and weak at the South end of the park) we felt we needed to do something else so we went to Durango and got an Alltel phone and as soon as I get it set up and going, I'll sent everyone the number. We just felt we needed to have some kind of immediate communication with family.
Dharma is settling in now. She sleeps later in the morning. We are parked right next to the cafe and outdoor theater and they play movies there in the evening for the kids. It gets pretty loud sometimes but she hasn't even barked like she'd usually do when she heard a noise. She loves to be outside because she can lay in the sun but it's still cool and it is a plus that all the kids that come by have to pet her. You know how she HATES that!!!! One thing they have to be careful of here is leaving trash and garbage outside at night. The BEARS come in here looking for it. They've already had a few investigating.
Above is a picture of a waterfall we saw coming out the side of a mountain along the road to Durango. It's just crashes down behind some houses there. We'll have to see if we can get closer sometime.
