Yesterday we started our RVing adventures. We got on the road about 9:15AM. By then the major accident that had shut down the 202 was cleared so we had pretty good sailing. I set the cruise control at about 62 and we headed for California. We had heard on the morning news that high wind warnings were out for parts of California so we were watching the weather. When I checked on the Internet I found diesel prices in CA were the highest in the nation, so when we got to Quartsite, even we still had 3/4 of a tank, we stop and topped off at $4.729/gal. It was 12:30PM by then so we had lunch. By the time we got to Indio, CA the wind was blowing pretty hard. That place must have 5000 giant wind turbans and we found out why. According to the news on the radio, winds were gusting from 30-50 MPH and we were being hit pretty hard so we decided, since we're retired and could, to stop in a rest area and wait for a while. There were a lot of trucks there with the same idea. We waited about an hour and finally got on the road again - wind did not let up - but decided we could not stay there all night. As we went further West the wind subsided and finally calmed down. Got here around 730pm. Kevin was waiting at the gate for us and by the time we got the 5th wheel parked up by the athletic field & walked down to Kevin's it was after 8pm. There is a little apartment right next to their place, so we are staying there. From what we saw it is beautiful here. Judy walked Dharma up to the 5th wheel this morning at 5:30am & there are trees & flowers every where. We'll go back up & grab some clothes & food later. Will be here until Monday or Tuesday and then head for Colorado. It is very cool here and Dharma loves it outside. We'll post some pictures later.
