Here we sit in old faithful Wal Mart parking lot in beautiful Whitehorse, YT. At least we have a nice view of the Yukon river out of the curb side window of the 5th wheel, and we can always watch the comings and goings in the Wal Mart parking lot on the left. Let me tell you, after going to some of the Wal Marts in Canada, it makes the Wal Marts in the states look like Neiman Marcus!!!
We walked down to the Ford dealer this morning to let them know that we had left the truck there. We were lucky enough to have the service manager (Nick) pop into the office and Bob was able to talk with him about our problem. Sounds like it may not be an easy fix - may be a head gasket or the turbo charger, so he is going to try to find someone on Monday to tow the 5th wheel to an RV park for us. We are literally stranded at the moment - we don't even have Internet acces. Everyone at the Ford Dealership has been wonderful so far.
We met John Bird there, who is on his way to Seward, Alaska to Workamp for the summer at the high school. He gave us a lot of information about the road conditions from here to Moose Pass. This is his 4th year of working in Seward. Along with all the other problems, we ran out of Canadian money and tried to take some out of the ATM at Wal Mart and it rejects our card because we did not know we had to notify the bank of foreign travel! Who knew we were suppose to do that!! They froze the account when we used the card to buy groceries, because they thought it was stolen. All of our good luck is suddenly dwindling. Bob's blood pressure is probably over the top. He is just beside himself. He was so tired for worrying all night that he took a nap in the afternoon. Like we have a lot to do. We took a short walk on a "walking path" they have along the Yukon river and noticed a bank in a little strip mall so we stopped and tried the Debit card in the ATM and it worked so now, at least, we have some cash (Canadian). Last night we decided to go out for dinner with our new found cash, so we went to McDonalds. Boy are they expensive here. $12+ for a burger, chicken sandwich, fries, and medium Coke. Sorry but now pictures today.
