Yesterday was the big day of the reunion with two gatherings, one in the afternoon at "The Swamp" and then in the evening at the Catawba Island Club and a good time was had by all. There were many more people at the main evening event than any of the others and we had a very good turnout. The afternoon was very causal and included the class of 1959 and 1960. At our age, it's necessary to double up so there are enough attendees to pay the bill.
As I mentioned in yesterday's post, an old girl friend of mine, I hadn't seen since graduation was coming and I hoped I didn't embarrass myself by not recognizing her. Well, I did embarrass myself by not having a clue who she was until she told me. I'll rack it up to the fact that I'm OLD and hope she forgave me. After about a 4 hour visit, everyone split and when home or wherever they were staying to put on their Sunday best to try to impress each other at the big evening Tah-Do. The evening was a lot of fun and there were new faces we hadn't seen yet during the weekend. They started out with a group picture of all the classmates who attended (we all wrote down our names in our position so when we get home we'll still remember who's who). Then announcements about future event plans, the dinner, dancing, gabbing, and door prize drawings (they were all around my number but never hit it). We wrapped up about 11:00PM after a very enjoyable evening renewing old friendships and discussing old memories. (Those we COULD remember). I suggested to the planning committee that next time they skip the name tag photos and just print names in LARGE FONT!!! The ending plan was to start having these every year at this point in our lives. I really think at our age that monthly might even be better.
