HEADING TO WISCONSIN

The weekend festivities are all over and Judy and I had a great time. I think she enjoyed visiting with everyone as much as I did reliving memories with high school classmates. Sunday we met at the Port Clinton Elks Lodge for a buffet breakfast and to say our last goodbyes. After the breakfast we found a laundromat and caught up on a weeks worth of laundry. After that we spent the day visiting old friends. I had run into my younger brother's ex-wife in WalMart where she works and she invited us over for brunch and a nice visit. Her son (my nephew), and his kids, her sister and husband all had an enjoyable afternoon visiting.
I hadn't seen my nephew since my brother's wedding in Bisbee a couple years ago, and his Mom in about 20 to 25 years and her sister and husband in about the same period so we had a lot to catch up on.
Monday morning we packed up and got on the road about 9:30AM. After a stop at the dump station to empty our holding tanks and then a stop at the gas station to top off with diesel, we were on our way finally by 10:30AM. Since we were going right past it and since it's the RV capital of the world, we planned to stop in Elkhart, IN to see if we could find some place to get our roof damage repaired. I had the name of a place I got from Nick Russell, who publishes an online RV journal we follow, so we put it into the GPS.
When we got to Elkhart, we found the place easily since it was just a short distance off the Indiana Turnpike. We stopped at Charger Enterprises on County Road 6 and the gentleman (who's name escapes me) who owns the place came out and took pictures and faxed an estimate to our insurance company. We're now parked next to his shop waiting to see if the insurance will approve his plan. If they do he will start on it Wednesday and said we should be out of here Friday. We'll have to spent a couple nights in a motel while their doing the repairs but we figure a bad roof can cause a lot of other problems so we don't have much choice. You can see in this picture where the solar panel sat on the roof (over the big dirt spot) and the duct tape patches I put on as a temporary fix to keep the rain out until we could find someone to fix it permanently.  The TV antenna will also need to be replaced because the solar panel hit it and damaged it when it came off. So we're in Indiana for a few days.
