ONWARD TO THE REUNION

We got up early this morning hoping to get the damage on the roof temporarily patched before the rain moved in and we headed out for Port Clinton but the weather didn't cooperate. Just as I started up on the roof, it started to sprinkle. It was just enough to make the duct tape I was using for the temporary patches not stick very well. I was able to get somewhat of a patch job done, the solar panel lowered down to the ground to Judy and stashed on the bed in the trailer when the downpour came. We decided we might just as well head out. So we hit the Ohio Turnpike at the Strongsville Exchange and started West. We had not stopped for diesel since we left NY and were getting down to 1/4 tank and the spare tank was empty so I was getting nervous. The first service plaza on the OH Pike we came to we pulled in for diesel. Don't you just love these pumps that turn off at $75.00. These companies all want your business but none are willing to go the extra mile with just A LITTLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. It ticked me off and I knew we had enough to make it to Port Clinton, so we left. I had pumped the diesel in the spare tank which is supposed to fill the main tank automatically when the level drops to 1/2 - 3/8. As I watched the gauge, it continued to drop and didn't refill. It just kept getting lower. We probably could have made it to PC but I saw a sign for $3.049/gal at Sandusky exit which was a bout as low as we'd seen it so I decided to stop and fill up since we were way early for campground check in anyway. I pumped another $138.00 worth and then the attendants acted like I had imposed on them to take my money. $213 worth of diesel is the most I ever spent at one time for a fill up. Never spent that much even in The Yukon at $5.25/gal for a fill. OH well, that's life on the road.

The patches I put on the roof didn't fair too well in the downpour we went through and two of them came off taking more of our rubber roof with them. When we got to PC and settled in the park, I headed for the local WalMart for some alcohol to clean the roof with hopes that the duct tape would stick better. After cleaning off all the spots and reapplying  the duct tape, the patches seem to be sticking much better. Don't understand why NASCAR teams can stick a piece of duct tape to the hood of there car and then drive 200MPH and have it stay where they put it!!!!

After the repairs were done and Judy fixed us lunch, we decided to cruise into PC and check the sights. I wanted to make sure I could find all this weekend's festivities since the last time I was here, I got lost and almost missed everything (And I wasn't even OLD then). While we were riding around it started to rain, and the severe storm warnings along with high wind and possible Tornado warnings were issued on the radio, we decided to high tail it back to the campground and check for leaks. It started to rain so hard I couldn't even see to drive and had to pull over at one point and wait for the defrosters to clear the windshield. When we finally got back to the RV, we only had one small leak around the TV antenna that I Haven't been able to find. It appears the temporary roof patches are working. Now to find someone to
permanently fix the damage.
We are parked at a campground called The Timbers and this is a picture of the pond in back of our 5th Wheel. We plan on being here until Monday.

Sounds like life on the road to me! As much as I don't want to leave friends and family here in Washington, it will be nice to get back out on the road for a bit. paige
