DAY 6 OF OUR ALASKAN ADVENTURES

Today is Judy's Birthday but I can't tell you her age!! We left Kevin and Romana's Monday morning about 9:30 AM. We got about 100ft and when Judy checked the Pressure Pro Tire monitor, we discovered that it had no power so we stopped. After some checking, we found a blown fuse in the truck fuse panel so we replaced it and started to go again and the same thing happened. To make a long story short, the plug on the 12v adapter was missing a spring so it had a bad connection. We didn't have a spring so we stole one out of a ball point pen and finally got the plug fix and were on the road by 10:15 AM. We've taken Daniel's advice and decided to avoid all the hills we'd encounter on I-5, and headed East on I-210 where we picked up I-15 and headed to Las Vegas, NV. We stopped in Barstow, CA about 12:30 for lunch and decided as long as we were at a TA truck stop we'd fuel up. After a $100 worth of diesel fuel we were on the road again. The trafic was pretty light and I-15 is a nice wide 2-3 lane road. A short way down the road we came to a rest stop and Judy told me to pull in and she'd try driving for awhile. I explained all the controls to her and we were off down I-15 toward Las Vegas. She set the cruise control at 55 and after a while she started to relax and feel move comfortable driving. She drove for about 1 1/2 hours until we reached the summit of the mountain we were climbing and deceided may she wouldn't try the 6% downgrade yet so she pulled over at a Truck brake check area and I took over again. She did great driving and I was real prowd of her. Maybe by the time we get to Alaska she'll do the downgrades too. We covered 485 miles today and we're both bushed. We really didn't want to go that far in one day but we got caught up in the Las Vegas rush hour trafic and couldn't stop when we wanted to. This is where we spent the night.
