We had a tremendous thunder/lightening/rain storm yesterday afternoon, shortly after I finished working. It actually rained so hard that we had a leak on the upper part of the large window frame in the slide with the dining room table. We had water running down the inside of the window and wall. I put a large towel on the floor to protect the carpet and when I got up this morning both the towel and carpet were soaked. Needless to say this is going to be a repair day. Bob got up on the roof this morning to investigate, but could not find any holes, etc on the top of the slide. The caulking around the top of the one window was somewhat loose so he removed that. Other than that he could not find any reason for the "flood" last evening. Since they are predicting "monsoon " like conditions every evening this week, Bob headed into Durango to pick up caulking for around the window. We will see what happens. Bob did find a large amount of water on top of the slide. This is probably the first time we have been truly level when we have been parked and that may have been the problem. Needless to say he dropped the back end down and raised the front end to get us a tad off level so that any water will drain off the slides. Barbara, one of the other workkampers, stopped by on her way up to to the office to let us know that she also had a leak last evening in one of her slides - first time for her. She ended up going out in the storm to "unlevel" her 5th wheel also. Eric told Bob that the rain gauge measured 4 inches.
Since it is one of those days where we won't be taking any trips or new adventures, I thought I'd share a picture of a house that I fell in love with the first time we drove past it. It is a tiny stone house on county route 250 that is the back way into Durango. The road actually runs on the opposite side of the Animas river where the camp ground is. I had wanted to take a picture of it from day one and finally had an opportunity to last week. As you can see it is not very large, but it has a stream that runs adjacent to the house.
If I were to ever have another home, it would have to be this particular little house. I don't think I could settle for anything less. What do you think? Isn't it the cutest little thing. I think it is fantastic. In my personal opinion, it is the perfect retirement retreat. Am I crazy or what! There were all different types of flowers growing in a garden in front and along the stream bed. You may not be able to see, but there were daisy's - one of my favorites! There were also flower boxes at the four windows at the front of the house. As you can see, it is surrounded by tall pines. Well, I can dream, can't I!

Ok, enough of the pipe dreams. Back to reality, chapter 2 of the continuing saga of the new cabins. They finally got the first one moved into position on the blocks this afternoon. The second cabin was suppose to be here at 2pm, however, it actually arrived at 430pm. They decided to leave it on the hill just outside the entrance to the Resort/Camp Ground until tomorrow morning. Probably a good move, since the black clouds are moving in for our afternoon showers. The new plan is to bring it in tomorrow morning and set it at that time. Hopefully it will go better than the first one. Maneuvering around the trees on these narrow roads is quite a challenge. Stay tuned for more.
