I said a tearful good bye (I'm not good with good byes) to David, Barbara, Cassie, Eileen, Aiden and Conner Wednesday morning around 7:55am. We have had a wonderful visit and I plan on going back and forth between Cape Cod and New York while we are on the East coast this summer. The morning was very foggy and overcast on the Cape. Our first stop was at the transfer station in Orleans where we were able to dump our holding tanks - relatively easily - for $6.00. It was just a short hop, skip and a jump from there to the entrance of US-6 West - the main route in and out of the cape. We ran into intermittent heavy patches of fog along the way and traffic was fairly heavy at that time of the day. Local forecast for the Cape that day was for fog and a storm heading in later in the afternoon. We were trying to beat the storm while we could. By the time we reached I-495 West at around 9:45am, the fog was starting to clear and the sun was coming out. Because the weather forecast was predicting rain along the east coast, we decided to forgo the sight seeing and took I-495 North and picked up I-90 (the Massachusetts Turnpike (a toll road) which took us directly to the New York State border.

We picked up the Northway (87) on the outskirts of Albany, NY and arrived here at my sister in law's home in Fort Edward at 2:30pm. It was a pretty uneventful ride and we actually made better time than we expected. After checking out the lay of the land, we managed to get the 5th wheel maneuvered into a position in her driveway, adjacent to the house. It was hot, humid, sticky, the sweat was pouring off every pore of our bodies, and the mosquitoes were already biting - now I remembered why I love Arizona. I gave Michelle a call at work to let her know we were here and the next thing we knew she was pulling up. She is a nurse at the hospital in Glens Falls, only about 4 miles away. Got to love small towns!

Robert got our hose hooked up to the well water, power hooked up to a 15amp breaker in the garage while I got the inside somewhat organized. We were at least set for the night. We had a quick tour of the house - which Michelle is in the processing of remodeling (her ten year plan) and met the dogs, Possum (a very hyper Australian Shepard) and Sophie ( a King Charles). We had a nice relaxing dinner outside and sat around chatting until the mosquitoes drove us inside. We had every window in the 5th wheel open when we went to bed and still were uncomfortable with the heat and humidity. We had thunderstorms and rain last evening - got to love Upstate NY - and we were both up at 4am; it was just too uncomfortable to sleep. This morning Robert has been checking out the electrical panel to see if he can install a 30amp breaker so that we can at least run one air conditioner on these humid days. Hallelujah, he can, we are in business. He will be heading to the Hill Electric (where he worked when we lived here) when it opens this morning - got to have some air when the humidity is this high. He also found a spot where we can hook into the septic system - we are in business. We will probably spend today getting settled in.
