Yesterday was supposed to be our day off, but one of the other Workamper's brother is here visiting, so we volunteered to work for them so they could visit. They went to one of the casinos around here and his brother won $1400. We should take a commission for working for them so they could go.
Today we are off also so for something we loaded up Dharma and the lawn chairs and went fishing at a private lake about 5 miles North of here. We've been talking about it since we got here and since you don't need a Out-of-State fishing license to fish there, just pay their $7.00 per person, We thought we'd give it a try. Besides, we bought Judy a new fishing pole before we left
Arizona so she had to give it a try. We got there about 8:30AM and after we drove around a little, we

finally found a spot where Dharma could get down to the water. We were close to the boat launch and dock and there were already four old guys fishing on the dock. We hadn't gotten the poles ready before we left, so I got Judy's pole ready so she could get started while I fixed mine. She hasn't been fishing since she was a little girl and went with her Mom and Dad so the first few casts with a brand new reel which we had never used was interesting. After about 15 minutes and 15 - 20 attempts, we finally figured it out. Before I could get mine set up, she said she thought she had a fish. She started reeling in and sure enough, she did. We had bought a net when we were in
California visiting Kevin and Romana, but of course we forgot all about it and left it at the trailer. So I told her to drag it up onto the bank.

Well, as soon as it hit the bank, it got off the hook and I tried to garb it but it was so slippery that it made it back to the water before I could corral it. First fish in 50 years and we didn't get it. After we were there for about an hour, Dharma was getting hot, so Judy moved her down the bank a ways where there was a bush she could lay under and get some shade. I was still at the original spot and finally had my rod ready to go and started fishing, when Judy hollers that she has another one. I told her to pull it up on the bank again and headed over there. This one had really swallowed the hook so he wasn't getting off. I grabbed him and tried to get the hook out. It was squirming like kid getting it's diapers changed and I knew I better not loose another one. It bit the line in half but I had it by then and on the stringer it went. Don't know what it weighted but it was 13" long. Pretty nice Rainbow Trout. By then we could taste fresh trout for supper. We were there for about 4 or 5 more hours and never got another one. Judy thinks she had a couple get off but I never had a bit that I could tell. We had a good time though and will probably try again. We were told
Molas Lake is another private farther up north that charges $7.00 a day for a whole car load. Some people staying here at the campgrounds a few weeks ago, went there every day for a week and caught 102 trout, so we'll try there next time.
