It's been a while since we've posted here and my son is giving me a hard time so I guess I better write something. Thursday we decided to drive to Kansas City to Costco since we were getting low on some things we get there. We punched the address into the Garmin and headed out. The first part of the trip went smooth but when we got down into the city, catching the right interstate wasn't as easy. You really need to know where your going because there are several quick turns and of course we were in the wrong lane and missed the turn. We ended up zig zaging through the city streets until we finally found it. Returning was much simpler when we found a better, straighter route. GPS are great but sometimes they're really STUPID!!
The picture above is looking down the street in the campground and you can see our truck sticking out on the left..
The picture to the left is in front of the outdoor stage where they have entertainment. The campground is pretty full again this weekend due to Father's Day with lots of campers and a big (110 people) family reunion at the clubhouse.
One thing they have here in this part of Missouri is lots of thunder storms and last night was no exception. We normally put the awning up if a storm is forecast but last night there was no mention of one on the evening news so we didn't. About 11:30 PM it rolled in. Most of the storms have lots of thunder and lightning and this was a beaut. The awning banged until about 4:00 AM and I thought a couple of times we were going to loose it. Lots of lightning and thunder so load that it actually shook the ground and a few times, set off the alarm on the truck from the concussion. We have never seen storms like this anywhere we've been in the country. I guess the central location catches both the hot weather moving from the West and the cold weather from Canada but what ever it is makes for some violent and spectacular storms. Judy just loves sitting up all night watching them. (She must because she does).
Because of all the quick turnovers here this weekend, she had to work Friday and will be working again Sunday. Since I'm in maintenance and doing mostly electric work, and since management doesn't allow it on the weekends, unless there's and emergency I usually don't have to work.
Right now it's about 77° with 80% humidity (about normal for here) and the sun is shinning bright, but there's a possibility of storms again tonight so could be another fun time. At least we've only had to hit the tornado shelter once since we've been here. Let's hope that's the last time. Those things make me REAL nervous!!!
