Because of all the rain lately and the relatively warm weather melting the snow remaining on the mountains, there have been flood warnings for the rivers, creeks, and streams around the Kenai Peninsula the last week. We drove down to Trail River which drains Lower Trail Lake to check it out and boy was the river ever running. The water was up to the banks on both sides and lots of new rapids. I'd like to get some fishing in before we leave but with the water that high it could be very difficult to stand in with waders.
The month of August looks like it is booked solid. We have a lot of days where people are leaving and coming in on the same day in both Chalets and that makes it very difficult to clean up. Check out time is 12:00 noon and check in is 4:00 PM. Most of the guests take full advantage of the times and push check out to the last minute or later. It seems like the bigger groups are the big offenders of late check out. The laundry is the big problem. It takes so long to do that it's almost impossible to get done in the 4 hour interval. Then to complicate matters, the well has been having problems keeping up lately and the washer in Stellar Jay looses water and then quits for a while. Wild Rose has a 350 gallon storage tank from which it's water system draws so it's not usually the problem. There's a storage tank in Stellar Jay's crawl space but it's a soft sided bladder and we haven't been able to figure out how to put a float system on it so it could be used without flooding the crawl space. I'm sure if we could utilize it, the water problem would be solved.
