This is a very sad day for Judy and I. We have tired everything the last few months to help ease the pain Dharma has been suffering from a serious case of arthritis in all her leg joints. Even though we have tried various medications, nothing seems to be helping her and she was having great difficulty standing and walking. She needs help to get up and down the stairs and cannot even get up off the floor any more without help. Last night we went to Nancy’s to see my cousin Joleen Gordon and her family who were here for a visit and when we got home, Dharma was sitting on the floor in the living room and it was obvious she had been attempting to get up and could not. It is clear that we cannot leave her alone for very long anymore and that her quality of life has drastically deteriorated the last few months. As hard as it was, we decided that it was time to relieve her of all her pain. She has been a loving and devoted member of our family and best friend to both of us these last 9 years and this decision has been very tough. She is unable to do the things she loves any more like running and playing with other dogs. We could not watch her suffer any more so after many months of agonizing over the tough decision, we finally made the decision to have Dharma put to sleep. You can finally rest in peace dear and loyal friend. Run wild and free with your friends chasing rabbits and squirrels – as you did as a puppy.
